A lake that stayed wild
Lake Santeetlah is surrounded by the Cheoah District of the Nantahala National Forest, and almost 80 percent of the shoreline is public land. Smallmouth, largemouth and walleye are the main draw, alongside crappie, bream and lake trout.
More than 50 primitive campsites are scattered around the water — no facilities, no fees, no permits.
